Thank You from John Grace & Marilyn Hetzer
A note of thanks,
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the residents of Lynnhaven and the other villages for the overwhelming support shown to me and Marilyn Hetzer for the Walk-a-Thon on Friday, November 10th. We were blown over by the number of our neighbors that participated and the amount of money collected, over $3,000.
The money will go to purchase gift cards that will become very useful to the patients and caregivers in the Shands Hospital Bone Marrow Transplant Unit. I know because Lois and I took advantage of these cards, a very nominal amount, while I was getting my transplant there.
Once again, Lynnhaven shows why it was the best Village when we moved here and still is all these years later. We can be thankful for this because of people like you.
As I write this, Marilyn Hetzer is going through her third round of chemo for her transplant. Keep her in your prayers. She has a long way to go.
Finally, a special thanks to Donna Grillo and the Charity Chicks for putting this event together. They did a terrific job! Marilyn and I are thankful to them for choosing Shands as this month's charity.
The Charity Chicks of Lynnhaven would like to invite you to join us in a Walk-A-Thon to benefit the Shands Bone Marrow Transplant Program, in support of two of our wonderful neighbors.
Friday, November 10th (Rain date:
November 17, 2017)
There will be three routes — a 1-, 2- or 3-mile walk, depending on which you prefer. Please be there promptly at 8:30 a.m. for donations and to get into your walking group.
Please be generous with your donations for this worthy cause... and spread the word and invite your friends!
Cash or checks accepted. Checks can be made out to Shands Bone Marrow Transplant Program. The money goes to help patients and their families with expenses while undergoing treatment at Shands in Gainesville, providing things like food cards, gas cards, etc.
If you can't participate but would like to contribute, you can drop off or mail your donation to:
2402 Tatum Terrace (corner of Wilson Way & Tatum)
The Villages, FL 32162
A box will be outside if she isn't home when you stop by.
John has been battling Small Lymphocytic Lymphoma (SLL) since February 2012. Back then, his and Lois' daughter, Heather Bradley, walked in the Massachusetts 5K Lymphomathon to raise money to help fight and cure lymphoma in honor of her father. Inspired by Heather, Lois' golfing group formed their own walk for John. Here are the Lynnhaven friends and neighbors who participated in that walk.
To send John your support and let him know you are thinking of him:
Keep John and Lois and their family in your thoughts and prayers as John continues to battle this disease.
