Mike Yander Has Passed

Mike Yander's Obituary (Click on link to view.)

Long-time resident, Mike Yander, passed on Tuesday, October 20th, after a valiant fight with COVID-19. He lost his wife Carol back in January. He was under the compassionate care of Cornerstone Hospice when he passed. He was proud to be born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. Mike retired from the New York City Police Department as a Lieutenant working in the NYC Crime Lab.

Up until recent years, if Lynnhaven Neighbors held a dance, you could be sure that Mike and Carol would be there. He loved to play softball and Carol was a regular spectator at his softball games. Up until Carol passed, the couple was often seen walking Churchill Street in the mornings, always glad to see people they encountered and inquire after them.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Mike's memory to Cornerstone Hospice (click on link to access the donations page) on the cornerstonehospice.org website.

Online condolences and photos can be shared with his family through the Hiers-Baxley website at hiers-baxley.com on his obituary page. Arrangements are under the care of Hiers-Baxley Funeral and Cremation Life Event Center, The Villages.

Our hearts go out to Mike's family at this sad time.
