Don't Leave the House Without It!

Thanks to Linda Martinie for making this excellent suggestion.

Sadly, Jack Lucas passed last Saturday, August 12th. He was walking along Churchill when he suddenly collapsed. Neighbors saw him and called 9-1-1 immediately and the Martinies and other neighbors tried to help by starting CPR until paramedics arrived. They initially didn't know who he was or where he lived, and he didn't have any identification on him. Paramedics arrived and took over, then loaded him into the ambulance and took him to the hospital.

Luckily, someone recognized Jack and knew where he and his wife lived. However, just think what would happen if YOU collapsed, no one recognized you, and you had no identification on you? The hospital wouldn't know who to notify until a missing persons report was filed with the police.

So, ALWAYS carry some personal information in your pocket... even if you are just picking up the mail or walking the dog. Minimally carry a card with your:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Home Phone #
  • Person to Contact
  • Contact's Phone or Cell Phone #

Of course, if you wear a Medical Alert wrist or ankle bracelet, necklace, pendant or dog tag, some of that information is with you all the times already... right?
