Other Sources for Buying Books at Reduced Prices

Cheapest Book Price — Use their FREE price comparison tool to help find cheap books, saving time and money. They search the internet to help you buy cheap books. Their price comparison shows used & new books to buy at the cheapest price. Sometimes book rentals are the cheapest option, so they also display the stores that have book rentals, too. And of course, nowadays ebooks are becoming very popular, but did you know that different stores offer different prices on ebooks? Well, they do and they show the stores that have cheap ebooks.

Bookperk — Save up to 83%  and get exclusive deals on HarperCollins Publishers' books and e-books, e-book bundles, great discounts on new and backlist titles, and great opportunities to win free books and other prizes.

Today's Deals in Books at Amazon — Use this web page to see hardcover & paperback books (new & used) being offered at reduced prices for that day, as well as kindle books and audiobooks (if available). Prime members get free 2-day shipping.

Local New & Used Bookstores

Locally, we have All Booked Up in The Villages at Colony Plaza (271 Colony Boulevard, along CR 466A) for books, as well as audios, where our own Peg Tabor used to work. You can get new releases at discount prices, trade in your quality paperbacks and hardcover books for great deals, or rent available hardcover books and audios. All Booked Up also specializes in rare and collectible books, which you can order through their website. You can also get gift certificates, as well as beautifully designed gift baskets. You can visit its website at http://www.alibris.com/stores/abubooks or stop by their Colony Plaza location. And, if 5+ people want to buy a book new, All Booked Up gives book clubs a 25% discount.

We also have the Barnes & Noble at Sumter Landing, where you can join their B & N program and get books at a discount. If you sign up for email bulletins you can also get additional discounts and coupons. You can sign up for Free Alerts & Newsletters, become a Barnes & Noble Member for 40% off of hardcover bestsellers, 20% off adult hardbacks, and 10% off discounted items, bargain books, music, DVDs, Cafe, and more. You can join their online Book Club, where you can discuss a specified book and speak with the author online. You can visit their website at http://www.barnesandnoble.com/ or stop by.

This site also has a used or out-of-print book web page, where B & N-approved book sellers sell used books. No B & N discounts apply since these books are offered by independent sellers. I have referred to this page a couple of times, but found that I could get the books cheaper elsewhere, but you be the judge.

Book Exchanges

Sue Laluk recommended a website called http://bookmooch.com/. It allows users to list books that they want to give away and to request books from other users. Basically, for every book you give away, you can get a book for free, and the only cost to you is the postage to mail the books. It’s hard to get bestsellers, but it’s a great way to get older books or get rid of books you no longer want.

Peg Tabor recommended Paperback Swap that helps readers swap, trade, and exchange paperback, hardback, and audio books for FREE; just the cost of mailing a requested item.

  • List books you'd like to swap with other club members.
  • Once a book is requested, mail it to the club member.
  • In return, you may choose from 4,256,764 available books! Books you request are mailed to you for free. No late fees. No hidden charges.
